Practical Travel Tips for Kaş
ATMs, SIM cards, parking, pharmacies, markets, and everything else you need to know for a smooth trip to Kaş.
Money & Payments
Currency
Turkish Lira (TL). Most tourist places accept cards, but carry cash for small shops, markets, and taxis.
ATMs
Several ATMs in the town centre (near the main square and harbour). Ziraat, Garanti, and İş Bankası are reliable.
Tipping
5–10% at restaurants is appreciated. Round up for taxis. Small tips (10–20 TL) for hotel and delivery staff.
Communication
SIM cards
Buy a Turkcell or Vodafone tourist SIM at the airport or in Kaş. Costs ~200–300 TL with data. Your phone must be registered within 120 days.
Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi at Larex Pansiyon, most restaurants, and cafes. Generally reliable.
Language
English is widely spoken in Kaş. Turkish basics (merhaba, teşekkürler) are always appreciated.
Getting Around
Walking
Kaş centre is very walkable. 15 minutes covers most of the town.
Dolmuş
Shared minibuses connect Kaş with nearby beaches and towns. Cheap and frequent in summer. Flag them down on the road.
Parking
Free street parking available but limited. Arrive early in summer. We can advise on the best spots.
Scooter rental
Available in town. Convenient for nearby beaches. International driving license required. Wear a helmet.
Health & Safety
Pharmacies
Several pharmacies (eczane) in the centre. Nöbetçi eczane (duty pharmacy) is open on weekends/holidays — check the sign on any pharmacy door.
Hospital
Kaş Devlet Hastanesi (state hospital) handles emergencies. For serious issues, transfer to Antalya may be needed.
Safety
Kaş is very safe, including at night. Petty theft is rare. Use normal precautions.
Water
Tap water is technically safe but most people drink bottled. Readily available everywhere.
Shopping & Markets
Friday Market
Every Friday morning on the western edge of town. Fresh produce, cheese, olives, honey, textiles, and souvenirs. The best shopping in Kaş.
Supermarkets
Migros, BIM, and ŞOK are in or near the centre. Open 7 days. Good for basics.
Old Town Shops
Handmade jewellery, textiles, ceramics, and leather. Prices are fair — mild bargaining is OK at market stalls but not in fixed-price shops.
